What does the SEO community say?

Let’s take a look at the discussions on WebmasterWorld for this update. The relevant posts start on page 23.

There might be a Google Update happen last night. Mobile traffic is getting down. Mozcast shows 93, even SEMRush sensor shows 4.5. (pritz)

Don’t want to sound excited but i see signs of hope today after the june core update . (sk7411)

In Spain this update hit very strong, start date 18 june (Danik)

@BushyTop , I am located in India , Entertainment Niche and Yes, we were affected by the june core update , not to death but a noticeable one. I am pretty sure something has touched down the SERPs today or perhaps since yesterday which is quite evident on SEMRUSH Sensors for non US regions specifically Spain etc. I believe whatever this is will touch other regions too . For me until now this looks good although i won’t count on this to stick considering the new trends of weekly Google updates and tweaks :)(sk7411)

Something brewing up in Spain for sure. 8.3 on Semrush for today and it looks like it started yesterday. And UK is also 7.1. (MayankParmar)

Something’s definitely going on right now. One of my money sites is getting the normal amount of converting traffic + a huge influx of sub 10 second visits and this site has never had zombies. (Hristo)

Still seeing some significant changes. The weekend is the key period really where there has been some significant change. (vlexo)

All my domains have had big ranking increases today. (Europe, 9 different countries). All branded cctld’s. (casperb)

Definitely see a nice traffic boost across all the 9 domains. Normally around 140-150 active users around this time of day, now that’s 210-220. This week was a good week :D (casperb)

What to do if this update hits you

The best advice I can give you is to read the Google Raters Guidelines in its entirety.

There is some excellent guidance relating to E-A-T and content quality in the guide, and the advice comes straight from Google.

Following Google’s advice and focussing on writing exceptional quality content that is of value to the user is the best way to gain traffic.

Another recommendation I can make is to use a tool like SEMrush. This will help with the technical aspects of SEO and can get you some quick wins and amplify the effects of your high-quality content.

For example:

  • Use the SEMrush keyword tool to tweak existing content for keywords that maximize traffic.
  • Use the SEO Writer to help improve content to target all the keywords used by the top-performing pages.
  • Audit your site to get quick wins.
  • Get new ideas for content with their SEO Ideas tool
